From data access request to governed release
A request can identify the project, investigators, institution, purpose, cohort, fields, environment, publication intent, and access dates. Audarel links it to the applicable DUA, repository approval, data access committee decision, and institutional authorization before evaluating the actual release artifacts.
GA4GH DUO and Library Cards
Data Use Ontology codes can express permitted use categories and modifiers in a machine-readable way. Library Cards can represent institutional signing authority or researcher affiliation. Audarel records proposed DUO terms and checks required institutional pre-authorization for the planned release date.
These standards support interoperability, but they do not remove the need for source agreements, committee judgment, repository-specific conditions, or human review.
Data access committee workflow
Approval tiers can model committee prerequisites and quorum. Each member decision, comment, time, and group outcome is retained. A quorum approval can waive remaining pending positions only after the configured threshold is met, preserving the distinction between participation and final committee outcome.
Cohort and field controls
Schema and payload inspection can compare the proposed fields to agreement allowlists and evaluate simple population predicates against released rows. Findings identify affected columns or rows so the requester can correct the extract before another review run.
Reproducibility across renewals and amendments
Renewed approvals, amended DUAs, changed cohorts, new investigators, and expiring access are normal research operations. Audarel versions the source and release, marks affected decisions stale, and preserves a diff between runs rather than erasing the older governance record.
